Zolder Cyclocross Worlds Race Prep and Practice

The Heusden-Zolder Raceway is the site of the UCI Cycling Cyclocross World Championships race. The dirt is a sandy loam, so it will soak up the rain pretty well and according to the weekend's weather report this theory will be tested...rain, rain and more rain on the horizon.

The starting line for the 2016 World Championships. The first straight is long and fast.

Some of the first few corners of the track. There will be a lot of jockeying for position here.

This section has concrete-made trees with religious depictions on them. I'll try to find more info on these.

This guy was tackled by UCI staff for unauthorized riding of the track.

The rut of this corner takes rider's tires under the fence.

Dickie Dubaivrienden and his crew are ready for action.

Eva Lechner on the run-up. You can see how steep it is.

This is the start of a rideable hill just after a run-up. Legs are burning here.

A wide view of the backside hill. This place will be packed with spectators.

This rideable (in practice, at least) section follows a tough run-up. The race could be won or lost right here.

This is the well-known off-camber section, which could change a little with the rain.

After the off-camber the course climbs up and around this hotel and restaurant.

There are a ton of photographers here for the event.
Enjoy this video preview of the course from GCN,,,,more soon, keep checking back!
